Bethlehem Project
The Bethlehem Project was founded in 1998 when a need was identified based upon so many people coming to the church for emergency housing assistance.
A partnership with Catholic Charities was created two years later. Support comes from the monthly Parish Social Ministry collection, which
averages about $2,300 for Bethlehem Project. Income also comes from private donations and business donations in the community, grants, memorial
gifts and fundraisers. Other funds are generated by the response to the Bethlehem newsletters.
Holiday Fundraisers

Thanks to the generosity of Blessed Sacrament
Cathedral parishioners, the support of local
Greensburg businesses and other private donations,
the Bethlehem Project holiday fundraisers raised
more than $10,000.
The Bethlehem Project Light-Up Night raffle
fundraiser was a success, raising $6910.63 in funds
to prevent homelessness. T here were 40 prizes
donated from Greensburg merchants and individuals to
make for an exciting array of prizes. Thanks
to all who helped make this fundraiser a success.
The Tree of Hope in the Cathedral parking
lot had 3,000 lights lit by donations from our
parish and the community at large. The goal of
raising $1 for each light was realized and a total
of $3,108.76 was raised. Thanks to all who
helped, donating their time, talent and treasure to
raise awareness of the problem of homelessness in
our area.
