Active Seniors Group

This group is for senior members of our parish and those who wish to participate outside the parish. The target age group is 55 and older; however, anyone who is interested is welcome.

March Meeting and Luncheon

The Cathedral Active Seniors Group will meet on Thursday, March 11.  The meeting will begin with coffee and social time at 10:15 AM followed by the meeting at 10:30 AM, presentation by featured speakers at 11:00 AM, Mass at 12:10 PM, and lunch following Mass.  (A small donation is requested for the lunch.)

The featured speakers, Darlene Koricich, RN, BSN and Elizabeth Long, RN, BS Ed, will address the topic of strokes, early intervention as key and recognizing symptoms to prevent or minimize damage caused by strokes.  If you are interested in attending this month's luncheon meeting, please contact the Parish Office at 724-834-3710 or via e-mail at blessedsacramentcathedral@dioceseofgreensburg.org.

Active Seniors Group Goals

The Active Seniors Group has goals in the following four areas:

Spirituality

- Promote spirituality by supporting our clergy, each other, and activities at the Cathedral
- Promote special liturgies
- Sponsor bible study classes
- Host welcoming events for newly-registered parishioners

Service

- Coordinate our ideas and provide assistance with other groups at the Cathedral
- Provide assistance to the needy in our community

Education

- Sponsor programs on comparative theologies including speakers of other religions
- Invite community representatives to discuss social services and the problems / opportunities in our area
- Concentrate on the church membership of our youth and persons with disabilities

Social Activities

- Bring people together in a Christian environment of friendship (i.e. plays, musicals, tours)
